Mr Sandy Taylor
Mr Sandy Taylor is the Business Development Director at Harris Defence Australia. He joined Harris Defence Australia (HDA) in August 2016, in the role of Senior Major Account Manager which was later changed to Account Director.
In this capacity, Sandy is the senior marketing & sales executive for the Australian Harris GBD and responsible for coordinating, executing and supporting all Harris Corporation Department of Defence pursuits in Australia (and New Zealand), including Government Relations and engagement.
Based in Canberra, HDA was created to integrate the development and execution of all Harris Corporation’s business with the ADF under one focused and empowered organisation with strong leadership and capabilities based in Australia.
Australian Army. Sandy graduated from the Royal Military College – Duntroon in 1999 into the Royal Australian Artillery and assumed his initial appointment as a Troop Commander at 16th Air Defence Regiment, Woodside. During his time with the Australian Army, Sandy saw service as HQ Staff, Battery 2IC and Project Manager with Defence’s acquisition agency. Proudly, in 2003, Sandy deployed to Iraq on operational service (in support of the invasion).
British Army. In 2005, Sandy accepted a commission in the Royal Artillery (United Kingdom) and saw service in a number of posts, including Battery Captain and Regimental Signals Officer, ending his time in uniform, in late 2008, as acting – Battery Commander 11th Sphinx Battery Royal Artillery. During his UK-service, Sandy again deployed to Iraq in support of allied operations on two occasions.
Since leaving the UK Armed Forces (2008) Sandy has held several marketing & sales appointments, largely, within the Defence & Aerospace Sector. This has included time spent within peak not-for-profit industry associations, Thales Australia, Ultra Electronics Australia, and Regional Director Asia Pacific for Kongsberg Australia.
Sandy also remains an active board member on Defence, and Defence Industry-related Boards.
Whilst based in Canberra with HDA, Sandy commutes to Adelaide where he and his wife, Sarah, and their three sons (9, 4, and 1) reside. Time (and family patience) permitting, Sandy is an avid rugby player and plays / coaches for a local Adelaide Rugby Union Team.
